"Surgical treatment of epilepsy in children" program

The program was implemented within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus during 2018-2021.

The purpose of this program is to create a system for providing comprehensive care to children with drug-resistant epilepsy.
As part of the program, the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery was equipped with medical diagnostic equipment that allows long-term EEG monitoring to reduce the risk of complications after surgical treatment of children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Thanks to the program, Belarusian specialists of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery were able to adopt the international experience of their foreign colleagues through the organization and financing of an internship abroad by the Foundation.

According to the leading researcher of the neurological department of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery, neurologist of the highest category S.L. Kulikova, in 2021, about 50-60 children were examined using new modern methods of genetic diagnostics, 80-90% of operations are currently performed in the Republic of Belarus, on the basis of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery.”
