Meet the child
Until recently, Yang led an active life as a child of his age - he studied, played football professionally, attended a music school ... Unfortunately, in February 2020, Yan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The day before, the child felt bad, alarming symptoms in the form of headaches, nausea alerted vigilant parents. In the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery, a terrible diagnosis was made - glioblastoma. This tumor belongs to the formations of a high degree of malignancy, it is able to grow rapidly and aggressively, destroying healthy brain tissue. An operation with total removal of the tumor was urgently performed. The world of a 9-year-old boy, full of bright colors and promising plans, narrowed to the size of a hospital room, filled with fear and pain.
The treatment of young patients requires a maximally individual program from doctors. Specialists have recommended proton therapy for Jan's further treatment. This method of radiation exposure is optimal taking into account the child's age, tumor localization and differs from traditional ones in that the radiation during the procedure acts pointwise on the tumor cells without touching the surrounding tissues. The therapy is characterized by a combination of high efficiency and gentle effect on the patient's body, allowing to minimize negative consequences and reduce the risks of side effects. The treatment is expensive and currently not carried out in the Republic of Belarus.
Thanks to you, benefactors, in 2020 Yan completed a course of proton beam therapy at the Oncology Clinic of the Medical Institute named after I. Sergei Berezin, St. Petersburg. After that, Yang lived a normal life without any signs of illness.
In May 2021, after another control MRI scan, doctors found a new tumor focus, which was also completely removed. The boy is recommended repeated proton radiation therapy at the Medical Institute. Sergey Berezin ".
