Timur fights cancer. At the consultation of doctors held in the fall of 2019, taking into account the negative dynamics of changes in the right pleural cavity, it was recommended to treat Timur with Lynparza (Olaparib) drug. The use of the drug is aimed at inhibiting tumor growth. The funds to purchase the expensive medication needed to treat a child were transferred by our regular partner of JSC “Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus”. Using of the drug maked possible to stabilize the disease and keep tumor growth in place. In March 2020, the opportunity was realized to carry out a rescue operation with chemoperfusion in the thoracic department of the N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology

The standard complex treatment begins with maximal resection and includes chemotherapy and radiation therapy as part of treatment. The addition of radiation to the entire neuraxis and chemotherapy may increase the disease-free survival. Taking into account the peculiarities of the course of Timur's disease, the localization of the tumor, the complexity of his case, the proton beam therapy is recommended for the boy as the optimal method of radiation therapy. High aiming accuracy of the beam during proton therapy delivers higher targeted doses of radiation directly to affect the tumor minimizing radiation exposure to nearby healthy tissue. That is very important for a child’s body, weakened by complex treatment, significantly reduces the risk of negative effects of therapy and relapses of the tumor.
Today, proton beam therapy is not available in the Republic of Belarus. Specialists of the Dr. Berezin Medical Center, St. Petersburg, Russia, have accepted the kid for treatment upon a letter of guarantee from the foundation.
