Meet the child
Stas has cerebral palsy (CP). The term cerebral palsy includes a whole complex of various disorders of the nervous and muscular systems that occur in children.
Thanks to numerous rehabilitations and daily activities, Stas has already achieved a lot, contrary to the doctors' forecasts, but the spasticity (tension) of the lower limbs does not allow him to achieve the main dream - to walk on his own.
Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) is a great chance to remove spasticity forever and lead a full life without barriers. The essence of SDR is as follows: the surgeon divides the roots of sensory nerves going to the muscles of the limbs into separate fibers. These fibers are stimulated with electrical impulses to determine which ones are causing spasticity. Abnormal fibers are cut off, while normal fibers are kept intact. This manipulation reduces the number of signals from the muscles and leads to a significant decrease in spasticity.
St. Louis Children's Hospital is one of the world's most famous SDR clinics. Dr. Park performs operations for cerebral palsy with minimal invasiveness and specializes specifically in rhizotomy in pediatrics. The doctor has great experience and reputation. Dr. Park has reviewed Stas's medical documents and is ready to accept him for surgery.
Despite the disease, Stas leads an active and eventful life, successfully and happily preparing for school. Impressing all the adults with his diligence and optimism, the boy goes to his dream - life without limitations.
Dear benefactors, thank you for helping Stas and give him a chance to live his life without limits!
