This neoplasm, in addition to the aesthetic component, represents a potential hazard - it grows with the growth of the child and can at any time degenerate into a malignant formation of skin, melanoma. Surgical excision is the standard of care.
The tissue expansion for the treatment of giant congenital melanocytic nevi is best method to choose and exposes potential advantages over traditional techniques.
