Meet the child
Maxim is fighting neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a very rare type of cancerous tumor that almost always affects children.
The disease manifested itself in April of 2019. Maxim got sick, the disease did not respond to standard treatment. An examination followed, unfortunately, revealed stage 4 neuroblastoma. Since then, Maxim is undergoing a treatment according to the protocol in the Belarussian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, Borovlyany. He has already undergone operational treatment and seven chemotherapy courses.
Today, the kid needs to conduct MIBG therapy, the antitumor treatment using 131I-Metiodiobenzylguanidine, at the Russian Scientific Center of Roentgenology & Radiology of the Ministry of Health Russian Federation.
MIBG therapy is an up-and-coming treatment for advanced-stage neuroblastoma. Current treatment options including chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, and stem cell transplantation are powerful, but not powerful enough. New therapeutic options are needed.
MIBG is a targeted therapy that delivers radiation directly to cancer cells. MIBG therapy delivers more than medicine, it delivers hope to children with neuroblastoma. It can be a safer therapy than traditional radiation therapy, as it delivers the radiation directly to the tumor and minimizes exposure to healthy tissues. Additionally, it can radiate metastatic tumors throughout the body in one treatment, which is much more difficult with traditional radiation therapy.
The treatment is needed to be started in two weeks.
Dear friends, thank you for your help to save Maxim's life!
